Small round holes (1-3 mm) on the wood surface
Wood Worm Control
Specialized injection inside infested wood to eliminate worms and larvae - protecting your premium furniture from decay.
Injection of specialized pesticides into infected wood (doors, furniture, floors) to eliminate wood worms and larvae inside the wood itself.
Why This Infestation Matters
Wood worms are among the most dangerous pests for premium furniture, doors, wooden floors, and even structural wood in homes. The name isn't accurate - they're actually larvae of small beetles that live and eat inside wood from within. The larva remains inside wood for 2-5 years before transforming into an adult beetle and flying to lay eggs in other wood.
In Cairo, the most common species: common furniture beetle (Anobium punctatum) - affects most old furniture and doors. And deathwatch beetle (Xestobium rufovillosum) - larger, affects structural wood and a major source of ceiling damage.
The big problem with wood worms is humans don't notice them for years. The larva eats wood from inside, so the piece looks intact from outside but is hollow inside. By the time clear signs appear (small holes + fine wood dust), the infestation is actually 2-3 years old at minimum.
Most vulnerable wood: old wood (antiques, heritage doors), damp wood, wood not treated with preservatives. Old villas in Zamalek and Heliopolis especially suffer from this.
At Nile Germany, we treat wood worms by direct injection method - not surface spray. The technician drills tiny holes (2 mm) in the infested piece every 10-15 cm and injects specialized pesticide (مبيدات ألمانية للحقن المباشر) inside the wood. The pesticide spreads through wood fibers and reaches larvae at all stages (egg, small larva, large larva, pupa).
For large structural surfaces (ceilings, main doors), we use Low Heat Treatment with residual spray. Temperature above 52°C for 4 hours kills all larvae at all stages.
Our results: 98% complete elimination in treated furniture. Warranty is 2 years for treated furniture, 5 years for full injection in structural wood.
Important note: after treatment, we fill the small holes with treatment paste matching the wood color, so they're invisible. Antique furniture retains its full original appearance.
Another note: if we find infestation across multiple pieces, we recommend full treatment (all pieces) in one visit, because adult beetles fly between pieces. Treating only one piece gives only temporary results.
How Do You Know You Have a Problem?
Watch for these signs and act fast before they spread
Fine wood dust (like powder) under furniture or doors
Light gnawing sounds from inside furniture at night
Small wood pieces falling without obvious cause
Noticeable weakness in the piece under pressure (bends or breaks easily)
Important Scientific Facts
Facts about this pest that may surprise you
Larva life inside wood
A larva lives 2-5 years inside wood eating and destroying from inside before emerging as an adult beetle.
Eggs per beetle
An adult female lays 80 eggs in wood cracks, each egg hatching to destroy a new area.
Adult beetle life
After years of larva life, the adult beetle lives only one month for mating and laying eggs.
Of wood strength lost
A severe infestation eats 75% of wood's internal strength, making it brittle and unable to bear weight.
Our Specialized Treatment Protocol
Scientifically designed methodology for every step
Specialized Furniture & Structural Inspection
The technician inspects every wood piece (furniture, doors, ceilings, floors) and identifies infestation depth and concentration.
Cleaning & Area Preparation
Removing dust and debris, covering floors and adjacent furniture with plastic protective sheets.
Direct Injection of Infested Wood
Drilling tiny holes (2 mm) every 10-15 cm and injecting مبيدات ألمانية للحقن المباشر pesticide into the wood. Spreads through fibers.
Surface Treatment for Continuous Protection
Residual spray on the external wood surface to create a protective layer preventing new infestation for years.
Sealing Small Holes Matching Wood Color
After treatment, we fill the holes we drilled with paste matching the wood color. Invisible.
How To Prepare For The Technician's Visit
Simple instructions to streamline the work and ensure safety
- 1 Empty drawers and infested cabinets of contents
- 2 Photograph each piece before treatment for after comparison
- 3 Keep children and pets away from the area for 4 hours
- 4 Open windows for ventilation during and after treatment
- 5 If the piece is valuable antique, consult the technician before treatment (we may recommend very gentle treatment)
- 6 Don't use polish or wax on the piece before treatment (prevents pesticide penetration)
