Ticks are among the most dangerous parasites for humans and animals because they transmit over 15 serious diseases, most notably Lyme disease and Mediterranean spotted fever. In Cairo, the most common species: brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) - most common and the source of infection in most homes with dogs. And ear tick (Otobius megnini) - lives in dog ears and causes severe infections.

The big problem with ticks is they can live without a host for 2-3 years, so even if you treat your dog, the home and garden may remain infested. Each female lays 3,000-6,000 eggs in her lifetime, hatching after 14-30 days. So a small infestation becomes a complete disaster in one season.

At Nile Germany, we treat ticks with a dual system. Part one: inside the home - specialized spray with pet-safe materials (مبيدات ألمانية آمنة على الحيوانات الأليفة) in places dogs love to lie (stairs, bed, carpet, behind sofa). Part two: garden - residual spray on the ground, grass, and dark areas, with special focus on exterior walls and sun-bathing animal spots.

We recommend following this treatment with treatment of the animal itself - we don't treat pets directly (that's the veterinarian's specialty), but we identify suitable materials with you (Seresto collar, Frontline drops, or Bravecto pills) and recommend a specialized vet if needed.

Critical note: you must treat the home and garden the same day. If you treat only inside, ticks in the garden return. If you treat only the garden, ticks in carpets and sofas re-emerge.

Prevention is more important than treatment: we recommend daily inspection of your pet after every garden trip (especially between ears, under armpits, between toes). And weekly yard cleaning of leaves and tall grass where ticks hide.
